This lovely hotel/conference center setting allows the greatest flexibility for everyone attending retreat. Staying overnight at the hotel is optional. Our room block includes both single and double rooms.

Since our next project is an embroidered chicken, it is only fitting that we meet at Barb's roost, because we all know that she is the Queen of chickens. Come visit Barb’s collection, many of which she has created.
Our pattern is from Inspiration magazine #129. Chickens come in many colors and sizes, so select your own color scheme and size. The original is a door stop, but we will offer an easy option to enlarge it into a tea cozy. We will discuss materials and pattern at this meeting. So, if you have never tried embroidery on wool, don't chicken out. Try something new!

We are starting a new monthly meeting on Sunday afternoons in January. January will be Jan 11th (2nd Sunday) but usually it will be 1st Sunday. 3 hours 1-4pm.
The intent is to provide an opportunity for those who work during the week and encourage those who may be new to stitching so, if you know someone, please do invite them. Guild membership is not required to try us out :-) No formal program but people will be encouraged to ask for help and to share what they are doing. Cups of tea will be served so you are welcome to bring your own special cup, if you have one. This is at Kris H.’s community room at City Bella (not at MVUUF). Please call to be let in if showing up later.

Join us for a lecure by Joyce Pugh: Stitching Around the World: What I Did on My Winter/Spring/Summer/Spring Adventure. This will be a fascinating lecture of her designs and color choices influenced by a cruise around the world.
Joyce enjoys all forms of needlepoint, and hasn’t yet found a color that she won’t use. She most enjoys creating original pieces upon reflecting on personal experiences. She draws inspiration in all sorts of places, from the world around her at home to the places she travels. Her camera roll is filled with pictures of sunrises and sunset, flowers, trees full of buds, leaves, and bare branches, brick walls, stained glass, tiles, carpets, and architectural details big and small.
We've started meeting at MVUUF on the 5th Tuesday of the month for a stitch-in from 10am to 2pm (bring your lunch if you like).
There is no program scheduled just an opportunity to de-stress over the holidays with other stitchers.
A Band Sampler for Spring

Friday, October 16 and Saturday, October 17, 2026 - $158.00

Rows of flowers & berries adorn this band sampler worked in luscious shades of colonial blue, red, green, & gold silks. Each band features a different combination of counted thread stitches sure to delight the sampler enthusiast.
Stitches used are Long Arm Cross, Montenegrin, Smyrna Cross, Four-Sided, Double Alternating Backstitch, Two-Sided Italian, Satin, Diagonal Satin, Oblong Smyrna Cross, Diagonal Cross, Chain, Spiral Trellis, Satin Cushion, Cross-Stitch over One, Petit Point, Rice Stitch, Algerian Eye, and more.
Students are encouraged to use the many stitch options presented in class to make this sampler design their own.
The finished design size is approximately 5” x 12”.

Marking Book & Accessories
Sunday, October 18, 2026 - $148.00 – 1:00pm to 6:15pm
Working on 32-count linen, create a wee needle book with companion pin keep, scissors sheath, & scissors fob featuring a Shaker style alphabet, strawberry motifs, birds, bees, & a butterfly.
The finished design size of the book is 10” wide (when opened) x 3” high. The pin keep is 2-1/2” wide x 2-5/8” high. The scissors sheath is 1” wide x 1-3/8” high & the fob is 1” wide x 1-1/8” high.
Colors used are black, greens, reds, brown, blue, & gold. Threads used are overdyed cotton & silk.
Stitches used include Stem, Queen, Smyrna, Double Cross, Four-sided, Satin Cushion, Petit Point, Cross-Stitch over one, Long-Arm Cross, Diagonal Cross, Backstitch, Two-Sided Italian, & Nun’s Stitch.
Scissors are not included.

Almost as fun as starting a project is finishing it! That's why we have added another event similar to March to the Finish. Let's gather together with fellow stitchers to enjoy our love of handiwork and possibly finish those holiday gifts!
There will be a drawing for two gift certificates each day as well as a free table if you want to bring anything to give away. Please remember if the item(s) you bring are not taken by someone else by the time you leave, you will need to take them back home with you.

Tri-fold Carnation Sewing Case Zoom class with Catherine Theron
10am-4pm Saturday February 20, 2027 (one hour for lunch and two breaks)
Registration begins August 24 and ends September 18, 2026
Carnations in flower lore represent maternal love. This pocket-sized case, worked on 32-count linen with silk threads in shades of red & green with accents in brown, highlights some of the varied shapes & counted stitches used throughout history to depict the carnation.
The front cover has a single stylized carnation. The back & inner covers feature variations of this flower. Two diagonal inside pockets feature more stylized depictions of the carnation, & the final inner panel holds a pincushion. A Queen Stitch scissors fob finishes off the carnation theme. The two spine areas are used for personalization.
Stitches used include: Queen, Florentine, Outline, Smyrna Cross, Satin Cushion, Double Running, Petit Point, Palestrina Knot, Satin, and Cross-Stitch over One.
Finished design size when folded is 2-3/4” x 2-3/4” x ¾” deep.
Finished design size when unfolded is approximately 9-5/8” x 2-3/4”.
