Evening Needlepointers: Islamic Geometric Patterns

All of us will at one time stitch a geometric design, but we rarely think about how that design came about. Islamic art makes abundant use of geometric patterns, all constructed with just a compass and a ruler. In this program, we’ll learn how to look at geometric patterns in Islamic tiles and take what we know to draw a couple of the better-known designs found in great mosques around the world. All you need is a pencil, a compass, a ruler, and a piece of paper to replicate the work of artisans from centuries ago!
