Daytime Stitch-In: 18th Century Women's Clothing

Eighteenth-century women’s clothing is more than high hair and wide hips! Monique will take you on a walk back in time by showing 18th-century fashions and how they changed, looking at what ordinary people wore, and discussing the difference between historical and modern fabrics.

She will also dispel the myths about wearing stays (18th-century term for corsets), describe the layers of dress and their functions, and demonstrate the common stitches used in sewing 18th century clothing. Monique has spent the last eight years learning about and constructing 18th century clothing using only hand stitches and will show examples of her work.

This group meets monthly on the 4th Tuesday from 10am - 12pm

LOCATION: The meeting is planned to be a hybrid. Those meeting in person will meet at MVUUF and those on video conference will find the link on the Members Resource page of the NGM website.
